Revision UP-504 Title IX Grievance Policy, December 2025

University Policy 504

Revision Status

These revisions update one portion of the “sexual assault” definition to align with a recent change in the law. The FBI recently updated its National Incident-Based Reporting System (“NIBRS”), to broaden the definition of “sexual assault.” Now, the touching of any body part, not just private body parts, can be considered sexual assault if the touching is for the purpose of sexual gratification, sexual degradation, or sexual humiliation. Title IX requires that universities use the NIBRS definitions in their policies. Therefore, this revision aligns our policy with legal standards and remain consistent with current expectations.
