Risk Management & Insurance (RMI) has always managed Unmanned Aircraft Systems (drones). Because RMI moved from Safety & Security to the Division of Institutional Integrity, references to Safety & Security have been removed, and the “owner” of the Policy is changed from Safety & Security to Division of Institutional Integrity. In addition, the “UAS Advisory Committee” referenced in the former Policy was never activated, so those references are removed. Instead, now when RMI gets a drone flight request that needs to be reviewed by someone other than RMI, that office consults with the appropriate individual based on the nature of the concern. Finally, additional safeguards have been added in an effort to limit UAS activity that does not benefit the University.
