Policy Revisions

Rescinded August 14, 2020

The Hazing Policy has been rescinded, instead incorporating the substance of the Policy into University Policy 406, Code of Student Responsibility.

Updated May 8, 2020
Revised August 14, 2015

University Policy 405, Hazing, has been revised to clarify some terms, correct some references, and to add a list of examples of behaviors that the University considers to be acts of Hazing. This is not an exhaustive list and does not represent every action that could be considered Hazing.

Revised May 19, 2014

This policy has been revised and rewritten both to expand the coverage of the Policy to all students who may fall victim to or be involved in hazing, and also to fall in line with national best practices.

Revised September 13, 1999

The Code of Student Responsibility prohibits "hazing" and refers to University Policy 405 for the definition of the term. Therefore, University Policy 405 has been revised to provide a more clear and precise definition of "hazing." The definition also includes examples of certain activities that constitute hazing.
