Does the Office of Legal Affairs work with external agencies?

Yes. The Office of Legal Affairs represents the University to a variety of external regulatory and law enforcement agencies, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office for Civil Rights (OCR), and National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). This function requires responding to inquiries, charges, or complaints registered by or with such organizations, usually through conducting internal investigations, marshaling evidence, and developing and articulating University positions and responses in consultation with appropriate University Administrators. In addition, the Office of Legal Affairs works with the Office of Ethics & Compliance to promote and support an academic and working environment that reflects the University’s commitment to maintaining the highest level of integrity and ethical standards in the conduct of its operations.
