A variety of legal issues affects the University, its employees, and its students. The Legal Topics highlighted on the left side menu provide basic resources and guidance for the University community. In addition, Atkins Library provides access to Legal Resources Databases.

The information provided in the Legal Topics is intended as general guidance and resources only and should not be interpreted as professional legal advice. Key Legal and Policy Changes: What You Need to Know (University Communications)

Last updated May 5, 2025

As a public university within the UNC System, the University is required to comply with all applicable laws and policies. UNC Charlotte also remains committed to ensuring a welcoming and supportive environment for all members of our community.

To help keep you informed, the University has created a centralized resource for higher education updates where you can find the latest information on policies, laws and guidance affecting colleges and universities, including FAQs on immigration changes. As these conversations continue, this resource will be updated to ensure you have access to the most current and relevant information.
