This policy has been significantly revised to be consistent with the revised Public Health Service (PHS) policies on Research Misconduct. A Research Integrity Officer (RIO) is defined as the responsible official for investigations, and the Vice Chancellor for Research and Economic Development is designated as the responsible official for maintaining the policy and establishing its procedures. Previously, the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs was responsible for maintaining University Policy 309; this responsibility has been changed to address conflicts of interest that the Provost may have regarding tenure decisions. The revised policy also includes Supplemental Procedures that provide detailed steps to be followed in the event of an allegation of research misconduct.
