Effective Date:
Wednesday, August 26, 2015
Status:
Revised

University Policy 406, Code of Student Responsibility, has been revised. Key revisions include:

  1. Creating the position of Administrative Hearing Officer to hear all cases under Chapter 8 (Sexual Misconduct, Relationship Violence, Stalking, and Related Retaliation Complaints) and other cases when the Director of Student Conduct, in his or her discretion, determines that the complexity or required expediency of the case or general backlog of cases necessitates the use of an Administrative Hearing Officer rather than an Administrative Hearing Panel.
  2. Revising the appeals process by removing the Chancellor from the process and adding the Provost for appeals of determinations with sanctions including Expulsion.
  3. Clarifying existing definitions and adding new definitions.
  4. Clarifying descriptions of of prohibited conduct under Chapter 5.
  5. Structurally, making Chapter 6, Case Referrals and Adjudication Methods, applicable broadly to both Chapter 7 (violations other than Chapter 8 violations) and Chapter 8 (Sexual Misconduct, Relationship Violence, Stalking, and Related Retaliation Complaints) cases.
  6. Structurally, including full procedures in both Chapter 7 (violations other than Chapter 8 violations) and Chapter 8 (Sexual Misconduct, Relationship Violence, Stalking, and Related Retaliation Complaints), so that each chapter can stand alone, rather than referring out to each other for various procedures.
  7. Restructuring Chapter 11, Appeals, to provide clarity.
