The revisions were made in response to amendments to regulations implementing Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
This new University Policy was established to comply with the Southern Association of College and Schools (SACS) requirement that all SACS institutions have a policy on substantive changes in their programs.
This rewritten University Policy now achieves two objectives: (1) to bring the University into compliance with cost accounting regulations, and (2) simplifies the University’s rules for additional compensation.
Changes to the University Policy’s title and the content of the University Policy were made to reflect new web management and processes for both University websites and for University sponsored Social Media.
The purpose of the University Policy is to provide employees who are nursing mothers with a private place and reasonable break time to express breast milk for a period of up to one year after the birth of the employee’s child. The policy was prompted by and is in accordance with the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA) and with the policy of the Office of State Personnel.
Chancellor Dubois approved revisions to University Policy 101.5, Equal Employment Opportunity, and University Policy 505, Sexual Orientation, to reflect a resolution that was formally approved by the Faculty Council on October 27, 2011, bringing these two policies in line with the university’s commitment to nondiscrimination on the basis of gender identity or expression.
Changes to this University Policy include removal of "Laboratory" animals from the title, removal of most of the procedural language and adding a link to the procedures, and a detailed “Responsibilities” section.
The University Policy was rewritten to improve clarity and to make it more concise.
This University Policy has been revised to meet the new discrimination standards required by law and to ensure that the policy matches the new automated performance evaluation system categories and processes.
These revisions were made to provide clarity and to add a paragraph informing employees who to contact with questions regarding the policy. The changes are minor and broaden the tasks administrative staff can provide for business that is not directly related to the university. The title of the policy was also changed from "Secretarial Time" to "Administrative Support for Professional Obligations."
